When you get to the site, you’ll see an alphabetical list of authors names including:

This website is sponsored by The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). They offer games and interactive activities focused on ocean and air themes.

When you get to the site, you’ll see icons including:

  • Beat the Uncertainty – Plan a climate-resilient city.
  • Recycle City – Take the Recycle City challenge or play the Dumptown Game.
  • Save Our Beach – Learn all about the beach.
  • NOVA’s Energy Lab – Design renewable energy sources for a city. You’ll be brought to the PBS NOVA website where you can create an account or use a guest pass.
  • NOVA’s Cloud Lab – Investigate the role clouds play in severe storms. This is also on the PBS NOVA website.

Foreign Language Quizzes

The Foreign Language portion of this ad-supported website offers animated, interactive educational quizzes for 6 different languages.

Students can use the quizzes to test their knowledge, prepare for an exam, or learn something new. When you get to the site, scroll down to see the topics for the following languages: 

  • Spanish
  • French
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese
  • Italian
  • Mandarin

Each link opens to a new page with numerous quizzes.

These quizzes (games) are fun, eye-pleasing, and include sound effects (so turn on your speakers). Some are drag-and-drop, and some are multiple-choice. Some quizzes are timed. If you get an answer wrong, one of a set of disappointed tones will sound and you will get another chance. A different set of sounds applaud your successes. At the end of the quiz, your score will be displayed and you will be given a chance to try the quiz again.

A bonus feature is that you can download a fully-functional trial version of a program called Quiz-Buddy to create your own quizzes offline (under “More” at the bottom of the home page).
