Michigan State University offers this free interactive virtual tour of the Amazon rainforest. When you get to the site you’ll see a photograph of the rainforest.

Place your mouse cursor over the picture to reveal images that include:

  • Boa Constrictor
  • Capybara
  • Jaguar
  • Orb-Weaving Spider
  • Parrot
  • Poison Dart Frog
  • Rhinoceros Beetle
  • Scarlett Macaw

And more! Click on any image and a new page opens where you can read information and sometimes watch a video about the item you selected. You can also scroll down to see the full list. And be sure to check out the link for teachers: Using the Virtual Rainforest in the Classroom.

This is a fun way to see and learn about some of the unique flora and fauna in the Amazon rainforest without leaving home.
