It’s Friday, March 28, 2014, and time for a Virtual Field Trip at ClickSchooling!

This is a teaching website all about bees and honey production in Texas. When you get to the site you will see a short introduction and directly below it – a button that says “TEKS Teacher Page.” If you click on that, you will see a compendium of the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills covered in this site – designed for high schools. Back on the main page, you will have noticed a photographic menu with links to some of the highlights of the site.
The BEST WAY to view this site is to go directly to the APIARY FIELD TRIP button at the top of the left menu bar. That starts your virtual tour of the Weaver Apiary. Just read through the text and view the photographs and then click on the “continue button” at the bottom of the screen to take the complete tour. You will learn all about the honey collection and extraction process, the history of honey, and how bees make honey. This is a bit text intensive for younger children – so parents may want to visit the site, read through it first, and then visit with younger kids while giving them a condensed oral version of the content.
When you are through visiting the apiary, go to the “Activities” button on the left menu. Click on it and a new page opens with links to a printable word search and crossword puzzle – and two multiple choice quizzes about the information presented at this website. Solutions are also provided.
