Age Range: 5-18 (grades K-12)

This website offers free video lessons to help students in grades K-12 improve their writing composition, mechanics, and grammar skills.  The videos are animations provide instruction through simple stories designed to engage students.

When you get to the site you’ll see a menu of video lessons divided into three sections – Writing, Mechanics, and Grammar. Each section is further divded by grade levels including:

K-2 – Watch videos that introduce writing and story-telling, as well as punctuation, capitalization, and parts of speech to young children.

3-5 – Receive video instruction on sentence structure, the placement of punctuation, and an introduction to conjunctions and predicate adjectives.

6-8 – Lean to revise written work. Create compound and complex sentence.  Find out how to use a colon and semicolon, and learn all about apostrophes and double negatives.

9-12 – Watch videos that explain persuasive writing and how to do research to write a paper. Learn the mechanics of complex sentences, along with writing style, structure, and tone.

Just click on the video topic of interest to enjoy the presentation. (Depending on your computer speed it may take a minute or two to download the video.)  When you’re through watching the videos you can check out the other learning resources at this site (covering a variety of subjects). You’ll find a free lesson plan library and additional web resources to explore.
