Recommended Website:
Parent Child Education

Age Range: 4-10 (Looks to be designed for about grades PreK-4)

Cynthia Wilkinson is one of the teacher-owners of and suggested the site for a review on ClickSchooling. I’m glad she did because it contains many, many engaging FREE lessons with video instruction on handwriting, spelling and more. Here are some of the lesson titles available at the site:

  • Determining Your Child’s Dominant Hand
  • Pencil Grip
  • Conventional Writing – Activities, tips and techniques you can use with your child to help them learn handwriting (with free handwriting paper downloads)
  • Spelling Tips and Activities – Get advice and fun activities that help kids learn and practice

BONUS: You’ll find lessons on making Dinosaur Foot Prints, Eggs, Fossils, & More

Sounds great, right? Here’s the rub:

The site is a labor of love by great teachers who are not web designers. As a result, the sight is not well-organized or formatted. You’ll discover:

  1. There isn’t a main menu or site map that clearly indexes the lessons.
  2. When you land on any given page – the page may look “blank” – and you have to scroll down a bit to find the content.

Navigation at this site requires an investment of your time to find all of the incredible content. If you’re willing to do that, you’ll be rewarded with lots of terrific free lessons that include:

  • Step-by-step instructions with video illustrations
  • A materials list
  • Activities, games or books to reinforce the lesson
  • Brain research based, kid-friendly content
  • Information on different learning styles and approaches to learning to help parents better understand their child’s needs

Cynthia wrote, “We are eager to take the mystery out of how to teach children so parents can be successful.”
