George Washington’s Mount Vernon
The first U.S. Presdent, George Washington, was born on February 21st. To celebrate his birthday, how about taking a tour of the home where he and his wife, Martha, lived from 1759-1799?
The “home” is really a mansion called “Mount Vernon” that was located on a plantation that covered 8,000 acres of land. It is a historical landmark and open to visitors. This website allows you to take a virtual tour of the mansion and grounds.
When you get to the site, follow the simple directions to take the virtual tour. You can also use the menu to learn about the history of Mount Vernon that includes some good biographical information on George Washington as well.
