For all kids who love to use the computer — here’s a great site to get some basic drill and practice in spelling, reading, and grammar using interactive, online games. When you get to the site you will see the words “Language Arts.” Below it is an icon menu of the many games offered in this subject.

NOTE: There is also a box of paid advertising links by commercial sites with language arts curriculum for sale. In tiny letters it says “Ads by Google” at the top of the box. That’s not the part of this site that I am referring to in this review.

Okay — back to the main icon menu. You will find all kinds of games to practice Language Arts including:

  • Slate – a fun little drawing game that helps kids practice making letters and numbers using the computer mouse.
  • Wordo – Stack tiles to spell words with 3 or more letters.
  • Word Lab – Fill in the missing letters to make words.
  • Fowl Words – Use the letter hens to spell as many words as you can before time runs out.
  • See ‘N Spell – Practice spelling words with short vowel sounds, long vowel sounds, letter blends, digraphs, plurals, and more!
  • Bookshelf – Read online stories.
  • Months of the Year – Do a word search for the months of the year.
  • And many more – including alphabet and letter recognition games for the very young.

Bookmark this site. Because once you’ve exhausted the Language Arts section, you can explore the games for other subjects at this site by looking at the menu at the top of the screen. You’ll see that this site offers interactive online games to learn science, math, social studies and more!
