Mount St. Helens Volcano is in the news and a Level II Eruption Alert has been issued. At today’s website you can view a live video cam focused on the volcano that is maintained by the observatory at Mount St. Helens Historical Monument.

After viewing the volcano, scroll down the page and click on the words “Special Conditions Report” for the latest information on the Volcano and the seismic activity taking place there. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will see three icons representing different organizations and park services dedicated to educating the public about Mount St. Helens Volcano.

Click on any icon and a new page opens with all kinds of information, history, photographs, lore, and more. One of the sites maintains a Teacher’s Corner
that provides educational ideas for how to use these sites.

[Note: As of October 2007, the cam is still operating. There are archived movies of the footage taken from October 1, 2004 to March 2005. There are also archived photos from the cam.]
