The Renaissance Collection

I stumbled across this website (again) the other day, and although we’ve featured it on ClickSchooling previously — it is SO WORTH SHARING AGAIN!

This is a spectacular, interactive website devoted to the art, architecture and learning that occurred from about 1400-1600 A.D.that transitioned humans from medieval to modern times. Plan to spend some time here, or bookmark it so you can return often.

When you get to the site you can choose if you want to view the site in flash or not. Then, a new page will open with a menu that includes:

  • Art Explorer — Learn about Renaissance Art History
  • Innovations 1400-1600 — Look through a Time Telescope to discover inventions & ideas from the past that impact modern life.
  • Patron of the Arts — A great interactive activity that provides insight to why so much artwork was created during The Renaissance.
  • The Artist’s Life — Find out how the great artists including Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo spent their days.
  • Lesson Plans — A series of lessons in Art, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math that are designed with Middle Schoool Students in mind.

Explore the selections at will and enjoy the multi-media presentation. This is a great demonstration of how the Internet can be a formidable educational tool!
