Classic Bookshelf

This website offers a free library of classic books that you can read online. A unique feature is that you can update the look of classics by customizing the text of each book. Choose your own font style, size, and color as well as the background color — so that each page is pleasing to YOUR eye, making reading online a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

When you get to the site you will see an introduction. Scroll to the bottom of the intro and you will find a “Click Here” link that allows you to search the library. Or just click on the “Site Map” at the top of the screen to find the Electronic Library that includes complete books by authors such as Aesop, Hans Christian Anderson, Charlotte Bronte, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Louisa May Alcott, and many, many more.

An electronic bookmark feature allows you to mark the spot in any given book that you are reading, so you can take a break. When you return, you take up right where you left off. This is a neat concept that brings classics into the technological age.
