Over the years the virtual tours of the White House have kept up with state-of-the-art technology, always changing and improving. Today we feature three different versions of a White House Tour — one for kids, a historical tour, and a video tour.

Recommended Websites:

Spotty’s White House Tour

At this site, kids can take a tour of the White House with Spotty, the President’s English Springer Spaniel, as their guide. When you get to the site you will see an introduction. Just click on the blue paw print to begin the tour that includes the Vermeil Room, Library, China Room, East Room, Green Room, Red Room, Blue Room, and State Dining Room. You will also see a menu on the left side of the screen that includes all kinds of trivia, facts, information, quizzes and games that teach about history and government while they entertain.

Historical Tour of the White House

At this website you will see a map of the White House. Click on any room on the map and a new page opens with a photograph of the room and text explaining its history and the historical significance of items in the room. Below the map you will see a menu of the rooms on the tour and additional rooms and areas of interest you can explore virtually. When you have completed this tour, check out the menu on the left of the screen to learn about Presidents and First Ladies, Art in the White House, Events and Traditions at the White House, Air Force One, and Camp David.

Life in the White House

This site offers Real Player video tours of the rooms in the White House, 360-degree panoramic movie tours of the White House and West Wing, and it includes past and present photo essays of life in the rooms of the White House. You can also take a narrated video tour with the White House Curator and learn about the art and furnishings of the State Floor.

By the way, if you are planning to visit Washington D.C., this website provides information about real tours of the White House that you can take as well.
