This comprehensive nature website provides free local wildlife guides! Did you see a butterfly in your garden and want to know it’s name? Did you find the tracks of an animal as you walked along a dirt road and wonder what animal made them? Are there wildflowers blooming on the hillside that you’d like to identify? Want to know if the spider in the wood pile is poisonous? Find answers to your questions about wildlife in your backyard!

When you get to the site, select the nature category that interests you including: birds, butterflies, mammals, reptiles & amphibians, trees, and wildflowers. Enter your email address and zip code and go directly to a page with information about wildlife in your area. If you don’t want to provide your email address, just click on the portion of the U.S. map where you live. A new page opens with another map, click on the region that is closest to your home, and another page opens with info about wildlife in your area.

Search buttons allow you to choose the wildlife you want to know more about. You will see thumbnail pictures and information about a particular species — just click on those that interest you for more detail. You can print out these wildlife guides too.

When you are through exploring the guides, take a look at some of the other offerings at this website — from how to create backyard habitats, to Nature Theater Movies, to learning more about threatened and endangered species in your state. Bookmark this site, you’ll want to return here often.
