Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706. To commemorate his birthday, visit this website that is designed to teach kids all about the life, work, inventions, and politics of Ben Franklin. The site also offers Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government.

When you get to the site, you will see a menu at the top of your screen that provides a guided tour of how the U.S. Government works. It is broken down into grade-ranges, so if you have a child in the 4th grade you would click on the kite icon that has “3-5” on it for an age or grade appropriate tour. This tour is well-designed and well worth taking once you are through exploring the biographical information about Franklin that can be accessed by clicking the icons below the introduction.

The icons allow you to read brief information about Franklin’s life as a Printer, Librarian, Inventor, and Statesman. You can also click on a “timeline” link of Franklin’s life.

All of the biographical information is simple to read and understand, and is accompanied by colorful illustrations and some fascinating trivia. The tour of the U.S. Government includes diagrams and photographs as well.

This site is worth bookmarking and re-visiting. It was actually featured at ClickSchooling a couple of years ago, but the site has been refurbished and is even better — which is why we decided to feature it again.
