Continuing with our Holiday Curriculum…

It seems fitting to make our last post of the year a potpourri of activities (some educational, some just for fun) for New Year’s. We recommend 2 websites:

Recommended Websites:

Wilstar.net – Happy New Year!

At this family site there is a continuous countdown to New Year’s Day. You will find a historical as well as a religious account of the significance of the New Year that includes an explanation of symbols associated with the New Year – like the New Year’s baby, Father Time, etc. You will also learn about activities and foods associated with the New Year. Listen to Auld Lang Syne, the traditional New Year’s song, and print out the words as well! There is a calendar for the coming year available here, and a New Year’s word search puzzle.

Billy Bear’s New Year Page

This website is designed for kids – but many of the activities and suggestions for New Year’s will please the whole family. When you get to the site you must scroll down to see the menu that includes:

  • an online New Year’s jigsaw puzzle
  • a New Year’s Resolution game
  • New Year’s clipart for decorations
  • printable calendar templates – so that you can make your own calendars for the coming year
  • play the New Year’s Baby game – and learn all about the English calendar
  • find recipes for non-alcoholic party beverages

We hope these websites help your family to enjoy the New Year celebration together!
