In the upper menu select “LIVE CAM” to start your safari. Cameras broadcast live from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm East Africa Time. Select from: 

  • African River Wildlife Camera
  • African Animal Lookout Camera
  • African Safari Camera
  • African Watering Hole Wildlife Camera

Below the webcams, discover the animals that you might see at the hippo pool. Click a silhouette to be taken to the field guide to learn about the animal as well as hear its sound. Choose “STORIES FROM THE BRUSH” to learn about the scientists in the field. Select the “FIELD GUIDE” link to discover Mpala’s animals. In the “CLASSROOM” find lessons plans and units for both Kenyan students and U.S. students to use to learn about the natural world around us. Units include multiple lessons laid out for easy use along with printable worksheets to accompany your studies.

This website is an excellent addition for your geography class studies of Africa or your animal science class.

This terrific, multi-media website is chock-full of free and downloadable lessons and activities on animal and marine animal science.
Sponsored by SeaWorld/Busch Gardens, this site is a companion to the exhibits and education provided at the amusement parks. It is intended to increase students’ competencies in science and math while developing a lifelong appreciation and respect for all living creatures and habitats.

When you get to the site you’ll find “Animal Infobooks”. Click on any topic to explore fun facts; listen to the sounds different animals make, explore ecosystems and zoological research. INFOBOOKS are your resource for wildlife information. Explore the in-depth details about animals, environments, conservation issues, and much more.

  • Look at the second menu line at the top to find the tab “Just for Teachers” to get free, downloadable teachers’ guides and classroom activities for grades K-12 (that can be tweaked for homeschools) on topics from Arctic Animals to Marine Animal Husbandry & Training. Watch the educational and entertaining “ShamuTV” online!
  • Find the first menu line at the top and locate the tab “Kids” to play interactive games that teach as they test your knowledge about animals. Also color pages online of tigers, polar bears and turtles.

Virtual Whale Watching

Have you wondered what it would be like to go whale watching? At this site you can go on a virtual whale watching tour. Climb aboard the cyber inflatable seacraft and join a whale watching expedition in the Juan de Fuca Strait near Victoria, British Columbia.

When you get to the site there are several pages you must click through to begin the tour — just follow the directions to the starting place. Then, sit back, relax and enjoy the open-sea excursion as you are treated to spectacular photos of marine wildlife.

Each photo is accompanied by educational text with links to more information for further study. Some of the creatures you will learn about on this tour include:
