It’s Friday, March 17, 2017, and time for a Virtual Field Trip at ClickSchooling!
Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision)
Take a virtual tour of the home of the Blarney Stone, one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. Legend has it that if one kisses the Blarney Stone they will never be at a loss for words again. While most of us may never be able to kiss the legendary stone, we can take a tour of the castle and grounds where it lies with the help of this website.
On the home page of today’s link, visitors can watch a fly-over view of the castle and the grounds. When you are ready to tour the grounds, hover over the “Plan Your Visit” link in the upper menu. Select the “Map & Virtual Tour” option to begin. When the page opens, there will be a map that you can hover over the ‘pins’ to see what is located there. Scroll down the page to find the 360° Blarney Castle tour. You will be able to use your mouse to explore:
- Poison Garden
- Family Room
- Castle Interior
- Rock Close
- Fern Garden
When you are finished with that tour, continue your exploration by selecting the “Explore Blarney Castle” link in the upper menu. On this page, through an image and brief text, you can learn about:
- Badger’s Cave
- The Dungeon
- The Witch Stone
- The Estate
- Wishing Steps
- Witch’s Kitchen
And much more. Visitors can also explore further by selecting the following at the top of the page:
- Kiss the Blarney Stone
- Experience the Gardens
- Explore Rock Close
- Visit the Castle
Select “History” in the upper menu to discover the history of Blarney Castle, see a family timeline, and view archived videos.
This is a great site to add to your studies of Ireland.
