It’s Saturday, January 7, 2017, and time for Art at ClickSchooling!
Age Range: 9-18 (Grades 4-12, with parental supervision)
Explore the world of Vincent van Gogh’s Bank of the Oise at Auvers while learning about the artist and the painting with this web game created by Eduweb.
In this game, the narrator is “sucked” into the painting. In order to escape, students navigate through the game with the help of “Trish Fish” by reading the information and clicking the appropriate links to discover the who, what, how, and where of the painting. Once the answers to those questions are found, they press “Out” to answer questions about what they have learned. From the home page, click on the Teacher’s Resources link to find how to use the program and an additional worksheet to use in your studies. Along the journey students will learn about:
- Painting style – impressionist, post-impressionist, and expressionist
- Types of paintings – portrait, landscape, still life, abstract
- Use of color and brushstrokes
This simple interactive may peak visitors’ interest in learning more about Vincent van Gogh, so we found this additional resource to dig deeper. Visit the Van Gogh Gallery to learn more about:
- The Works
- The Man
- The Legend
Both sites are excellent additions to your art studies palette.
