Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision)

Take 11 different virtual field trips with this website from the University of Northern Colorado and The William E. Hewit Institute for History and Social Studies Education.

Choose to visit:

  • Colorado Indians
  • Georgetown’s Historic Stores
  • Georgetown’s Historic Houses
  • An 1860’s Farm
  • An 1890’s Farm
  • The Lebanon Sliver Mine
  • Denver’s Historic Lower Downtown
  • Denver’s Historic 17th Street
  • Denver’s Historic Civic Center
  • Denver’s Historic Uptown District

Once you have selected your tour, there are a few different ways to navigate the tours, depending on your selection. Some you click an image to begin, then use the “Next” text link to move to the next slide. Others bring up a group of images to choose from, then you can continue using the “Next” link. And there are a few that visitors use a map to choose locations. Once an image is pulled up, then click on it again to enlarge in another pop up window. When this window opens, learn more about the image by choosing either “About this stop” or “Preservation” from the lower menu in the frame.

But the learning doesn’t stop there. Click the “Doing History Site Map” text link and another pop up will appear. This brings up a chart that when you select the check mark a new browser window opens and you can dig deeper into:

  • Farmers & Ranchers
  • Indians
  • Miners
  • Cities
  • 20th Century
  • Archives
  • Ancient Pueblos

Here you will also find a link to Teachers Resources which include Lesson plans and more tips on using the website.
