Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision).

Electricity is made in many different ways today and with the video virtual tours from MidAmerican Energy, visitors can learn all about the histories and processes of creating energy. Videos last between 5 and 10 minutes and use digital animation to present interesting and thorough explanations of the different types of energy plants.

These include:

  • Wind
  • Solar
  • Geothermal
  • Hydroelectric
  • Combustion-fueled
  • Coal-fueled

When you are done taking your tours, select the “Safety” option in the upper menu, then select “Education Programs” on the side bar menu. When that page opens, select the “Energy for Education website” text link to be taken to the “Electric Universe/Energy Underground” website where there are lessons, activities, games, and more for students in grades Kindergarten through 9th grade that will expand upon your virtual tours.

The virtual tours and the accompanying Energy for Education website will be a fabulous resource to use in your science studies of energy.
