Age Range: 8-11 (Grades 3-5, with parental supervision)

Help students improve their geography skills by using the games at this website from Reach the World and the National Geographic Society Education Foundation. While these games were meant for students in grades 3-5, younger and older students can reap the benefits of using this tool.

When arriving at today’s link, choose to either:

  • Build Planet Earth
  • Map Countries and Cities

Using your mouse, drag and drop locations onto the globe. Activities are timed so students can try to beat their previous times with multiple practices. When you are finished, students can print out their maps.

Click on “Teacher Tools” on the sidebar for suggestions on how to use GeoGames to teach geography and for a lesson plan that includes downloads, vocabulary words, and more. There are even free apps for Android and IOS.

This game is easy to learn and fun to master. It is a nifty addition to your geography studies.
