Avast, me hearties and shiver me timbers, September 19th is “International Talk Like A Pirate Day!” Arrrrr! It’s a silly holiday and “whimsical alternative” to the serious things that can make life a little dull sometimes.

So put on your bandanas and eye patches and practice pirate Language Arts while having some fun! Head to the Talk Like A Pirate page for “Junior Pirates” for a free pirate curriculum (in pdf) complete with pirate glossary! Not only that, you’ll get:

  • A free “Pirates of Penzance” curriculum from the San Francisco Opera!
  • Links to Online Pirate Resources for youngsters that include history, games, songs, puzzles, gear and garb.
  • Talk Like a Pirate Party Kit (pdf downloads)
  • Ideas for Decorations, Games, Activities
  • Pirate Lesson Plans

NOTE: We have provided the link for the “Junior Pirates” page in today’s review. From there, you can access the main website that’s intended for adults and there is some bawdy material there. As always, parents should preview and monitor use of this site.

Before long you’ll be singin’ “Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!”
