But the Baseball Hall of Fame does not simply celebrate great ball players. Umpires, managers, and baseball executives are also included. Discover the contributions to the history of the game for Hall of Famers such as: 

  • Hank O’Day – player, manager, umpire and scout for over 40 years in the National League
  • Bill Klem – affectionately known as “The Old Arbiter”, was the first umpire to wear a chest protector, and also one of the first to use visible arm signals to coincide with his calls
  • George Lee Anderson – a.k.a. “Sparky” Anderson is currently the only manager to win a World Series in both leagues
  • John J. McGraw – manager that led the Giants to 10 Pennants and 5 World Championships
  • Effa Manley – the female pioneer businesswoman and co-owner of the Newark Eagles, committed to baseball and civil rights
