Age Range: 5-18 (Grades K-12, with parental supervision)

Part of the Oyez Project at Chicago-Kent College of Law, this portion of the website offers an informative, interactive tour of the United States Supreme Court building.

Starting at the view from First Street, visitors can explore the architecture, art work, and rooms of the Supreme Court.

Select from:

  • Exterior
  • Great Hall
  • Courtroom
  • Conference Rooms and Library
  • Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Chambers
  • Justice Stephen G. Breyer’s Chambers
  • Justin John Paul Stevens’ Chambers
  • Justice Anthony M. Kennedy’s Chambers

While investigating the rooms, visitors will find clickable links for pop-up images of specific items such as the sculptured busts and portraits of chief justices and details of sculptures and architectural features. As visitors navigate through the building, a small text box also offers additional information about the current location or subject. When visiting the courtroom, interesting videos are available for selection describing the figures represented in the four friezes that grace the walls of the room.

When finished touring the Supreme Court building, use the links above the tour to chronologically explore past and present Supreme Court cases and learn more about the Justices.
