Lufthansa: Virtual Pilot

Age Range: 9 and up (approximately, with parental supervision)

This website, sponsored by Lufthansa Airlines, provides a fun, online game to test and improve your knowledge of European geography.

When you get to the site you’ll see an introduction that explains how the game is played. Essentially, you become a virtual pilot of a Lufthansa jet. You are provided with the name of a European city and a map. In 8 seconds, you must determine where that city is located on the map and click on the correct destination to land your plane. The closer you click to the correct location, the higher your score.

There are 3 rounds to the game, and each is more challenging. Once you complete the game you can see your score. You can also click on a button to play the game again. Each game contains new locations with a few repetitions.

Note: You are given the option to enter your name and email address to see how you rank in comparison to others who have played the game. I suspect that you may receive advertising from Lufthansa if you provide your correct email address. Entering a bogus name and email address will render the desired results without subjecting yourself to spam.

This is a fun way to learn more about European geography.
